Topic of the day: Assuming responsibility
Life can be chaotic and sometimes overwhelming. Nevertheless, there is always a bright side in every situation. The most important element to find the sunshine in a storming situation is a change in perception. As there are typically several elements interacting at the same time to create this situation, only when you get the focus on what is important is that you can take the right steps to solve it. In fact, life is a series of decisions that create reactions, sometimes the way we want and sometimes not. In many cases, we externalize the problem in hand, but if you trackback on how you got to this point, you realize that there was a moment when you decided for something that ended up here.
At this moment, you really have to be brave to assume that it was your decision at first (or maybe a lack of decision). You need to take responsibility for what is happening to you. Of course, there were several influences along the way, which is expected, because we are social beings living in a complex society. But somehow, we internally know that we are responsible for it. Then there are two possible ways:
· you decide to act and assume your part in the solution;
· or you can blame others and wait until the problem solves by itself (which might not really happen);
It is clear that the first option will bring much more benefits regarding personal growth, experience and maturity. It will also train the internal resilience and contribute to increasing the self-confidence.
The second option is likely to bring more frustration and turn into a different direction than you expected (because you did not contribute to the solution).
We get often to crossroads in life. Sometimes these are simple situations and sometimes they can completely change the landscape. In any case, we need to assume our part on it, even if someone put us there. Some steps can help you in this way: first, you need to have a better understanding of yourself, about what you are good at and what you’re not. Second, you need to understand your feelings and put them into perspective trying to find the reason behind. Third, you should improve your capabilities by learning and doing in order to improve your weak points. Fourth, you need to recognize that for every action there is a reaction, which means that for everything you do, you are influencing the world around in a certain way. And finally, you take responsibility for what you are doing and deciding on a daily basis.
Putting in simple words, we are responsible for our own lives and we can make it amazing, average or frustrating. It is just a matter of decision.
